Widened one way, closed the other: Jal El Dib works press on

Exclusive sources told LBCI that operations to dismantle Jal El Dib Bridge have not begun yet and the precise date for works has not been set yet.

The representative of the Council for Reconstruction and Development engineer Elie Helou told LBCI that the roads adjacent to the bridge are being widened, paving the way for the dismantling of the bridge. “Repaving the roads was postponed waiting for weather conditions to improve”, Helou added.

Helou stressed that the bridge’s pillars will be removed and the ramps will be fixed within 20 days, afterwards, the highway will be renovated and repaved in both directions.

The highway adjacent to the bridge and leading to Beirut will be widened to fit three lanes, one of which will be dedicated for cars going into Jal El Dib.

The highway from Jounieh to Jal El Dib will be closed at 3a.m. and vehicles will have access to Jal El Dib via Antelias Bridge or through Nahr El Mot.
