Kanso to LBCI: There is a national need for a unified history book
Minister Ali Kanso stressed on Tuesday that “there is a national need for a unified history book”, explaining that the ministerial committee tasked with scrutinizing the modern history book has corrected certain facts that were included in the draft handed to the cabinet.

Kanso told Nharkom Said TV show that the book makes no mention of the Sykes-Picot Agreement and does not mention Maroun Abboud who shed light on Lebanon's historical lands.

“The book mentioned the name of Abdul Qadir Al-Jazairi under the category of Lebanese figures while he is not actually of Lebanese origin,” Kanso complained.

Commenting on the ambiguity surrounding the mentioning of “the cedar revolution” in the book, Kanso said “when the cedar revolution is mentioned, the opposition should be mentioned in return.”
