Why has Al Jazeera blacked-out across Lebanon?
A sign appeared on Al Jazeera TV that read “we are sorry for suspending broadcast of all Al Jazeera channels upon the warning addressed to cable providers in Lebanon”.

This decision implies a $1.50 increase in monthly fees by each subscriber after a decision to raise fees on sport channels.

Sleiman Farah, a member of the satellite association in Lebanon, stressed that more than 2,000 cable providers in Lebanon will stop distributing the Al Jazeera channel.

Farah told LBCI that “the problem lies in the fact that the state is totally sidelined from the issue,” adding that distributors will not renege on their decision before the Al Jazeera administration budges on its position.

“I’ve never heard such a decision except for in Lebanon”, he added.
