Introduction to the evening news 12-02-2012

Will the LAF put into effect their warning which lies in taking decisive actions in Tripoli should clashes resume? Will they receive cover for military intervention on both sides, posing threat to the citizens’ lives?     

Who is operating snipers on both sides? Which side did the directorate of orientation refer to when it held the armed members and people behind them responsible for the clashes? Is it true that certain groups were angered over funding cuts so they leveraged the situation to fuel tension?      

Who is funding these groups and youths and who is supplying both sides with arms? Will it be possible to revive the 2008 reconciliation or will the threat of explosion linger until the elucidation of the Syrian regime’s fate as well as the situation in Syria?      

These questions will remain unanswered especially that the cabinet sessions are suspended. The ministerial crisis was further complicated after the emergence of semi-official statements expressing desire to remove Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas over his refusal to sign the transportation decree.      

It is certain that putting “Nahhas’ sack” to a vote will not be tabled since those sharing this desire do not constitute a two-thirds majority which places the matter under the jurisdiction of the parliament.       

Now the key question is: “Will Speaker Nabih Berri call for a session to withdraw confidence from the minister and will any one take a risk on the cabinet’s fate in this particular Lebanese-Syrian-Arab moment, especially if faced with the possible resignation of General Aoun and allies in protest of the move?”
