Wahhab: Al-Jabal situation a red line
Tawhid Movement leader Wiaam Wahhab suggested on Monday to dispatch a delegation to Jabal Al-Arab in Syria that would be comprised of religious and political representatives of the Druze sect in a bid to conduct a survey on the “interests of Druze in Syria.”

Wahhab added that “there are increasing talks about the Druze situation, especially in Jabal Al-Arab in Syria and even in Lebanon, as well as on the Druze participation in the so-called confrontation.”

“There is no such thing as confrontation; what is happening is that the Syrian army is simply chasing after armed men,” he added.

During a press conference, Wahhab said “I challenge everyone to name one person that has gone from Lebanon to Syria or to mention one piece of weapon handed to the Syrians, or any sum of money distributed in this respect.”

Commenting on the recent visit by MP Walid Jumblatt to senior Druze Sheikh Abou Mohammad Jawad Wali Ad-Dine, Wahhab suggested that the Sheikhs’ decision be the umbrella of all political leadership.

Wahhab added “the situation in al-Jabal is a red line, no one is allowed to interfere. There is continued coordination between all parties to avert any crisis. The contentious Syrian and internal issues will certainly not cause any problem in al-Jabal.”

In his concluding remarks, Wahhab warned “the wise people of the north, Tripoli in particular, of plunging the country into a deteriorating security situation because of those who abide by foreign agendas.
