Syrian National Council: Lebanese and Syrian peoples have a common cause

The March 14 General Secretariat member, Fares Soueid, delivered a message from the transitional Syrian National Council in the 7th anniversary of Rafic Hariri’s assassination at Biel. The council assured that the people in Syria who are fighting against the dictatorial regime in Homs and the rest of the Syrian regions salute the Lebanese people on the 7th anniversary of the assassination of Rafic Hariri and his companions. The council also saluted the martyrs of the Cedar’s Revolution who died for a sovereign and independent Lebanon.      

The council added that in spring 2005, Assad’s troops were expelled from Lebanon; this was the first harsh blow to his rule. It considered that Assad failed to gain the confidence of the people, adding that the Lebanese and the Syrian peoples have a common cause since democracy in Syria is the backbone of Lebanon’s independence.        

The Syrian National Council said that Syria is stricken, yet its people are resistant. “The regime will fall and whenever it intensifies the killing, it gets closer to the grave “,         

The council added that Russia and China will not succeed in making Syria go backwards because the world is governed by values such as democracy and human rights.        

The council voiced its solidarity with Lebanon on this occasion, expressing its thanks to March 14 for their support.
