Minister Aridi: call my mobile to report taxi violations

Public Works Minister Ghazi Aridi said on Wednesday that some made a big mistake when they violated the rules and procedures by raising the transportation fee. During a press conference held following his meeting with the transportation unions, Aridi stressed that such a decision only falls under the authority of the ministry.

Aridi said that certain procedures must be followed before increasing transportation fees, adding that he contacted PM Najib Mikati and the concerned company to confirm that the prices will not be tampered with.  

Aridi urged cab drivers to commit to the state’s decision, calling on citizens to call him on his personal cellphone to report violations. Aridi reiterated the importance of the transportation plan that has yet to be implemented.

Speaking on the forged taxi registration numbers and the parking space crisis, he said: “[These two issues] are included in the transportation plan, and I will tackle them with the Prime Minister, Interior and Finance Ministers to come up with a common solution to settle the problem.”
