Qortbawi: President for Higher Judicial Council must be appointed

Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi underscored the need to appoint a new president for the Higher Judicial Council according to the adopted standards.

Following his visit to the headquarters of the Maronite Association, Qortbawi voiced dismay over the administrative vacancy in the ministry.

“78% of the posts are vacant”, Qortbwai said.

Qortbawi added that work should be done to protect and activate the judicial system in line with the norms of transparency and integrity.

The justice minister stressed that 12 judges should be deferred from the disciplinary council and one should be dismissed from the judiciary.
