Geagea, Jarrah meet over Mideast situation

Lebanese Forces leader, Samir Geagea, met with Future MP Jamal Jarrah on Thursday to discuss the current situation in the unrest-swept Middle East region.       

Following the meeting in Maarab, Jarrah told reporters "the entire region is currently witnessing the Arab Spring, which is quite similar to us as March 14 forces, considering that we went through the same stiff conditions, despotism, and criminality, wielded on the Lebanese throughout the Syrian tutelage period."       

"It is the same stage the Syrian people and other Arabs are living nowadays. It is also similar to us considering the political aspirations claiming freedom, democracy, independence, the civil state, and the acknowledgement of pluralism," he said.       

He made it clear that his camp had no concerns over such trends and changes. "We are instead upbeat on a new brightening future throughout the Arab arena."         

Turning to the internal domestic scene, Jarrah explained that the spending in 2011 was similar to that from 2006 till 2010. He went on to say that the aforesaid spending obtained the approbation of the cabinet, the Court of Audit, and the concerned authorities.        

"We have nothing to fear and we insist that auditing covers all the state's accounts since Taef Agreement and hitherto," he said.        

Separately, Geagea received a delegation of LF Zahle and Central Bekaa committees, with talks featuring high on an array of party-related affairs.
