Cypriot FM seeks oil agreement with Lebanese leaders

Maronite Patriarch Bshara Rai met with Cypriot FM Erato Markoullis to discuss bilateral relations between countries as well as the status of the Christians Cypriot amid the tensions with Turkey.

On the other hand Head of the Kataeb Party Amin Gemayel received at the headquarters of the party Cypriote FM and the accompanying delegation.

After the meeting, Gemayel said that Cyprus can play a pivotal role in narrowing differences over the disputed economic zone to pave the way for oil and gas exploration.

Both sides underlined the importance of attracting investors and commence as soon as possible with oil exploration once the border dispute with Israel is solved.

Kyprianou said talks focused on the situation in the Middle East as well as the events taking place in some regional countries. She hoped that the Lebanese-Turkish relations will not be at the expense of Cyprus.

The minister assured that Cyprus is doing its utmost to solve the dispute over the economic zone, adding that all sides are keen to demarcate this zone.
