REPORT: Brother of former MP arrested at Beirut airport

General Security arrested on Monday Hussein Yaacoub, brother of former MP Hassan Yaacoub, at Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport on the backdrop of the kidnapping of Libya’s late leader Moammar Gaddafi’s son, Hannibal Gaddafi.

Shortly after news broke out, Hussein’s mother was admitted to the Hotel Dieu Hospital, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Former MP Hassan Yaacoub was arrested last December during his questioning over the abduction of the son of ousted Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi.

The ex-lawmaker and three of his bodyguards were charged with abducting Hannibal, physically torturing him and failing to inform the concerned authorities of his capture.

Yaacoub's father was accompanying Imam Moussa al-Sadr and another man when they disappeared in Libya in 1978.
