Military defector shot dead in Akkar

Lebanese army Intelligence branch shot dead on Wednesday a Lebanese military defector in the northern district of Akkar.

Corporal Atef Mohammad Saadeddine died during a shootout with the intelligence patrol.

The incident took place near the town of al-Bireh where soldiers were raiding his house.

Saadeddine (born in 1991), hails from the Akkar town of Kherbet Daoud and faces desertion charges.
