Salam discusses with Maltese counterpart bilateral relations between both countries

Prime Minister Tammam Salam met on Wednesday with his Maltese counterpart, with whom he discussed the possibility of cooperating, exchanging expertise and sharing knowledge between both countries.

Salam revealed that he outlined with Malta’s PM Joseph Muscat the Syrian refugee crisis and its repercussions on Lebanon, adding that Beirut is suffering from the wave of terrorism which is hitting the region.

Speaking of Istanbul’s Islamic summit, Salam stressed that “Lebanon will always look forward to maintain contacts with its brothers in all the Islamic states.”

For his part, Muscat emphasized that Lebanon cannot be left alone with its overstretched resources in tackling the refugee crisis, adding that Malta fully supports the principle of security and stability in Lebanon.

As for the trade cooperation between the two countries, Muscat said, “We believe that there are several fields, on which we can cooperate together.”
