Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwagi stressed that Lebanon’s border is under the control of the army, which has confronted terrorist organizations with full force and determination.
During a ceremony held to launch the EU project to support the Lebanese army and State Security, Kahwagi noted that the fight against terror is moving forward, stressing that there will be no compromising in it.
“The fight will not stop until all terror cells are defeated,” he stated.
The chief added that Lebanon has confidence in the friendly countries, mainly the European Union States that will continue providing the Lebanese army and security apparatuses with the needed support.
For his part, Director General of General Security Major General Abbas Ibrahim said that “efforts will continue to be deployed in order to push away all kinds of threats from Lebanon, in cooperation with the army and all security apparatuses, and with the support of the official authorities, the people and the International Community.”
“Lebanon is witnessing the most critical and most dangerous stages in its modern history in fighting terrorism,” Maj. Gen. Ibrahim pointed out.
In turn, European Union ambassador Christina Lassen stressed that the Lebanese army and security forces are standing on the front lines of this battle and in controlling illegal immigration.
