Hariri: April 13th a black day, gave green light to state collapse

Former PM Saad Hariri said on Friday that April 13, 1975 is a “black day” in Lebanon’s history since it gave green light to the collapse of the state and that of its administrative, legislative and security bodies at the expense of an open war that was about to eliminate, for more than 20 years, the rest of the elements of coexistence between the Lebanese.

In a statement issued on the 37th anniversary of the Lebanese war, Hariri said that the burden carried by April 13th is manifested in the negative atmospheres and practices surrounding the Lebanese political life which still resorts to the power of arms to intimidate partners in the country and deter the state and its legitimate institutions from fulfilling their roles which lie in extending the rule of law and protecting national sovereignty.

Hariri added that this occasion should constitute a strong motive to all loyal Lebanese to lift the masks off policies threatening national peace and the will of coexistence and civil unity.
