Deputy Speaker Farid Makary stressed Wednesday that there is no electoral law that suits all parties, noting that the appropriate law is the one that suits the country.
Following the meeting held by the parliamentary committee tasked with discussing the new electoral draft law, MP Ammar Houry stressed the need to comply with the Constitution and the Taef Accord.
For his part, MP George Adwan said that the solution lies in a vote to be held by the Parliament or a closer look at the initiative presented by Speaker Nabih Berri.
In turn, Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun refused to resort to any vote at the Parliament, before voting on the Orthodox draft law.
On the other hand, MP Ali Fayyad declared that in case an agreement fails to be reached during the dialogue session over a political mechanism to be adopted concerning the electoral law, it will be very difficult for the committees to reach a solution.
