Archbishop Aoudeh hopes era of assassinations ended

Beirut Greek Orthodox Metropolitan Elias Aoudeh said on Sunday that the nation will keep on bleeding if people let hatred, selfishness and narrow interests take over their hearts.

In his Easter sermon at the St. George Cathedral in downtown Beirut, Archbishiop Aoudeh hoped that the era of killing and assassinations will end once and for all. The archbishop slammed politicians and the state for a series of scandals and incidents that rocked Lebanon lately.

“We continue to suffer from divisions and war,” he lamented. “People are after money and power.”

“We should work together to come out of the current situation,” Audeh told believers and several politicians who attended the mass, including deputy Speaker Farid Makari and MP Atef Majdalani.

“Will counter-accusations ever end?,” he wondered, urging politicians to render citizens’ right to a decent life a priority.
