The Union Coordinating Committee (UCC) called on the parties meeting over national dialogue sessions to set a date for legislative sessions, during which urgent draft laws must be passed in order to improve the social conditions for the majority of the Lebanese people, most importantly the draft law pertaining to the series of ranks and salaries for the public sector employees, including military personnel, civilians and private school teachers.
The UCC said that the failure to pass the pay scale, discussion over which has already began at the parliament, will force the teachers and workers from all sector to return to the streets and take escalatory measures that may aggravate the situation on many levels.
In a statement, the committee urged the cabinet to overturn its decision to reduce the daily minimum wage from LBP 30 thousand to 26 thousand.
