REPORT: Minister Bou Saab says no reduction, only amendments
Minister of Education Elias Bou Saad said on Thursday that the curriculum in Lebanon’s schools are prepared for 170 days of learning, adding however that schools can abide by only 140 days due to the official holidays.

Bou Saab denied having reduced the days and weeks from the academic year, adding that he only made “rational amendments.”
“We will reconsider some subjects and we will be deleting unnecessary chapters,” he added.

Bou Saab’s comments were made during a press conference whereby he noted that some steps will be taken in order to alleviate the sufferings of both the students and professors.

He also requested to allocate additional hours to educate students on the following topics: Recycling of waste, drugs, violence against kids and bullying, and acceptance of others.

On another note, Bou Saab concluded by stressing that he will shut down all schools that do not meet the necessary conditions.
