Aoun in Q&A session: Past experience doesn’t encourage reapproval of consensual president
Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said Saturday that the past experience does not encourage the approval of a consensual president once again.  Aoun added that the president must own an “imposing” parliamentary bloc with ministers to represent it.

In a Q&A session on Facebook and Twitter on the first anniversary of the Free Patriotic Movement’s Facebook page , Aoun said that he did not have a different opinion regarding the South Lebanon Army, but he refused the prosecution of its members “since the local and international reality compelled them to stay in their region under the Israeli occupation”. Aoun stressed that the people who struggled to stay in their land and homes must not be prosecuted.

On the impact of Syrian events on Lebanon, Aoun stressed that no one can confirm or deny some incidents that may have a negative impact on Lebanon. Aoun called on officials not to be afraid, or else they would lose and Lebanon will collapse.

On another note, Aoun said that Charbel Nahhas did not leave the political scene or the Free Patriotic Movement, adding that all possibilities are open.

Aoun said that the protection of consumers is the responsibility of the Ministry of Economy, not the Ministry of Energy, adding that the ministry took the initiative to set a weekly fuel price; it is not its responsibility.

Asked on the false witnesses issue, Aoun said that the case cannot be opened before the appointment of a chairman for the High Judicial Council.
