REPORT: Akkar's potato farmers condemn inequality

Potato farmers in Akkar valley held a sit-in Friday in the Center for the Cooperative Association for Potato Growers in Halba to protest the lack of help provided to them by the government.

The demonstration took place one day after the government decided to compensate cherry farmers in Arsal, northern Beqaa, leading Akkar’s potato farmers to condemn the inequality and neglect practiced against them by the concerned officials.

Farmers owning lands in towns close to the Lebanese-Syrian border have been facing obstacles in selling their products due to the critical security situation.
