Former Lebanese President Emil Lahoud stated Monday that what happened today represents a victory for the political line he follows by electing a Christian president, adding that it is a positive opportunity for Lebanon.
In a statement to MTV Lebanon’s website, Lahoud hoped that electing a president will be the first step within an inclusive plan, which serves the interest of Lebanon and encompasses state’s institutions.
Regarding the reason behind his absence from the electoral session, Lahoud expressed "his disinterest in seeing few people who were present there."
