REPORT: Berri says serious efforts are being deployed to form new government quickly

Speaker Nabih Berri voiced on Wednesday hopes that the new government would be formed before the Independence Day.

Berri said that serious efforts are being deployed in order to form a new government that must draft a new electoral law and deal with the vital issues of the Lebanese people.

Berri’s comments were made during his weekly Wednesday meeting with MPs in Ain el-Tineh.

He also stressed necessity to draft an electoral law based on the system of proportionality which “shifts the country from the concept of sectarianism to that of nationality.”
