Feltman concludes his tour, reiterates US support for Lebanon
U.S. Assistant State Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman, pursued his third day in Beirut where he met President Michel Sleiman in the presence of U.S. ambassador Mora Connelly. Discussions revolved around bilateral relations and the situation in the region.

Feltman headed then to the Central Kataeb House in Saifi where he met with former president Amin Gemayel who called on all parties to be careful in dealing with the Syrian issue.

Feltman also held a separate meeting with Beirut Greek Orthodox Metropolitan, Bishop Elias Audi to discuss the situation in Lebanon and the region, before heading to the residence of MP Boutros Harb in Hazmieh to discuss the latest developments in the presence of a March 14 delegation.

In this regard, Feltman voiced the U.S.’s unwavering support to pluralistic and democratic governments in the region, governments that protect the rights of all citizens, including ethnic and religious minorities.

Feltman reiterated the U.S.’s commitment to a stable, sovereign and independent Lebanon.
