Rai meets Mexican president, says Middle Eastern Chrisitans must not be deemed as minorities

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai visited on Thursday the Mexican President Felipe Calderon at the Mexican Presidential Palace. Both engaged in talks relevant to the overall situation in the Middle East region as well as to means of enhancing bilateral ties.

Calderon voiced Mexico's readiness to provide any sort of assistance for the Lebanese Cause.

The Patriarch, for his part, said that the Christians in the Middle East should not be deemed as minorities, highlighting that Christians and Muslims in Lebanon played a significant role in establishing a democratic state throughout history.
