Judge Saqr charges 12 state employees for involvement in unlicensed internet case

Military Prosecutor Judge Saqr Saqr charged on Thursday 12 state employees, including two Customs agents, for being involved in the unlicensed internet case.

The Customs agents were charged with accepting bribes that violate their national responsibilities, negligence and facilitating of the trafficking of the illegal equipment into the country.

The 10 other suspects were charged with "bribing the two mentioned Customs agents and escaping customs fees."

The case was referred to Military Investigative Judge Riyad Abou Ghaida.

Caretaker Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb said last March that several unlicensed providers were operating and the connections had been tapped by Israel to spy on Lebanon.
