REPORT: Parliament holds session to quiz Cabinet over its performance
Prime Minister Saad Hariri said on Thursday that the government is committed to hold the parliamentary elections and to reject the vacuum.

Hariri’s comments were made during a parliamentary session tasked to quiz the cabinet over its performance whereby he noted that the government will start working on the state’s budget for 2018 within one month.
 
He also stressed that the government will continue making achievements and restoring the confidence in it.
 
For his part, MP Wael Abou Faour said that consensus must be reached over a new vote law, adding that voting on a specific vote law will lead to divisions.

Meanwhile, Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah said that the Lebanese state is being robbed.
 
"The government does not fear the parliament's accountability nor do the lawmakers fear the people's accountability,” he added.

This as MP Najib Miqati called on the government to review an electoral law that was suggested by his government when he was in office, or to study a new vote law.
 
As for Future bloc MP Oqab Saqr, he said that "the crisis of ​hindering the electoral law is similar to the crisis of blocking the election of the president."

"We reject the extension of the parliament's mandate and we reject parliamentary vacuum," he added.

Saqr lamented that "there is a search for an electoral law tailored to fit the interests of parties and sects, and this is the truth."

Saqr also called on the government to "set a plan to remove weapons from cities, starting by Greater Beirut."

He also warned that the Hezbollah-linked Resistance Brigades have "undermined the image of the state."​
