Fighting between rebel groups in the biggest insurgent stronghold near the Syrian capital Damascus continued while government forces pressed an offensive, a war monitor said.
The clashes broke out in part of the densely-populated rural area east of Damascus known as the Eastern Ghouta, which has been besieged by government troops since 2013.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had documented the deaths of nearly one hundred fighters since clashes between rebel groups broke out on Friday. It also reported civilian casualties.
Jaish al-Islam is pitted against the Failaq al-Rahman group together with fighters from an alliance with links to al-Qaeda, according to the Observatory, rebels and activists, but what has started the clash and who’s profiting from it?
