Less than 24 hours after Astana talks ended with Russia, Iran and Turkey signing an agreement regarding the establishment of safe zones in Syria allowing the refugees to return to their country, UN Resident Coordinator Philippe Lazzarini blew up such agreement, deeming the safe zones plan “not enough to convince the refugees to return.”
“The refugees will go back the day they feel safe enough and they fell it’s their choice and they feel that they will be going back for good,” he said.
