REPORT: Cabinet refers electricity plan to Tender Department
A Cabinet session convened on Wednesday at the Baabda Presidential Palace with 67 items on its agenda.

During the session, the ministers decided to refer the electricity plan to the Tender Department.

It also decided to convene in an extraordinary session to discuss the security situation in the Bekaa district, provided that the date of the session to be set later.

On another note, President Michel Aoun said that the new vote law does not represent all his aspirations, adding however that it is a turning point in the country’s political life.

He also called for holding awareness campaign to explain the new vote law for the Lebanese people, stressing the importance to hold the parliamentary polls on their times.

For his part, Prime Minister Saad Hariri  called for adopting a “positive approach” in dealing with the electricity plan.
 
Prior to the session, a dispute erupted between Public Works and Transport Minister Youssef Fenianos and Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hasan.

"We oppose the electricity plan. But we are here to listen to a lesson in transparency. We are with Hezbollah but we want to see how long it will go against its own convictions,” Public Works and Transport Minister Youssef Fenianos said.

Fenianos' remarks led Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hasan to reply saying: "We take our stance based on our convictions and principals and objectively."
