REPORT: Trial session in case of Roula Yaacoub’s murder postponed

The trial session in the case of murder of Roula Yaacoub was postponed until October 31, 2017.

Karam Bazzi, Roula’s husband and suspected murderer, is now charged, and an in-absentia arrest warrant has been issued against him.

The case of Roula Yaacoub, a woman whose husband was said to have beaten her to death in July 2013, has stirred social uproar.

Neighbors said that she was found unconscious with bruises to her body at her home in Halba, Akkar. She died upon arrival at the local hospital. Roula’s relatives and neighbors maintained that her husband regularly beat his wife and five daughters; the youngest was 7 months at the time, and have campaigned relentlessly since her death.
