President Michel Aoun is continuing meetings with Prime Minister Saad Hariri and concerned officials to discuss possible means to ensure a safe and dignified return for the Syrian refugees.
Meanwhile, the presidency will follow up on the statement of the United Nations representatives in Lebanon, a statement that was deemed by a number of sources as “not encouraging,” concerning the safe and voluntary return of the refugees to Syria.
Concerning the reports suggesting that the Director General of General Security Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim will be appointed as a presidential envoy to handle the matter, the sources said that “the idea is on the table but requires a clear decision to be issued by the cabinet.”
However, the sources said that there has not yet been an agreement between the political parties over the means to approach the return of the refugees.
