Social Affairs Minister Pierre Bou Assi said Monday that the battles currently taking place between Lebanon and Syria are part of what is happening in Syria, noting that “they are concerned only in the decisions taken by the Lebanese government and implemented by the security apparatus.
In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, the minister said that Lebanon can only survive by the rule of the state and the public institutions, stressing the need to hand over all illegal arms to the state.
“We won’t allow any Lebanese or non-Lebanese gunman on Lebanese territory,” he stated.
Bou Assi added that dragging Lebanon into regional conflicts does not serve the country’s interest, pointing out that Lebanon is today under the microscope.
“Interfering in foreign affairs can cause Lebanon grave issues,” he said.
