A Cabinet meeting was held at the Grand Serail chaired by Prime Minister Saad Hariri with 44 items on its agenda.
Prior to the meeting, Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq confirmed that they won’t address the issue concerning the up-coming by-elections during today’s session, adding that it will be discussed in a session to be held at Baabda.
“I will not lay the by-election to rest and each party has to carry out its duty,” Mashnouq added.
For his part, Agriculture Minister Ghazi Zoaiter did not answer any questions related to the issue concerning the replacement of the current director general of cooperatives Gloria Abou Zeid.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Planning Affairs Michel Pharaon expected that a dispute will take place during the meeting over assigning a replacement for Gloria Abou Zeid, revealing that the new director will be a member of the Aoun family.
As for the pay scale, Minister of Finance Ali Hassan Khalil said “there are rumors circulating about canceling the decision to grant the pay scale, adding that this subject is not in the hands of the Ministry of Finance but it needs to be discussed in the Cabinet and the Parliament.”
On another note, Minister of Youth and Sports Mohammed Fneish said that the subject of the battles that took place on the outskirts of Lebanon’s borders must be discussed in more than two meetings.
