Geagea: Dialogue “a waste of time”, state and army our safe bets

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Wednesday that dialogue under the current situation is a waste of time and diverts the attention away from the current challenges facing the country as well as the cabinet’s performance.

“We express [great sorrow] for not being able to answer President Michel Suleiman’s call for dialogue,” he added sarcastically during a dinner held in the honor of Mukhtars and Mayors in al-Metn.

Geagea explained that he is not against dialogue itself, but rather against the current situation in the cabinet.

The LF leader praised the army, saying that it remains “the only solution”.

“Our safe bets are on the state and its military forces, thus we are keen on their preservation”.

Geagea also called on the Army Command to press ahead with investigations into the killing of both Muslim Sheikhs in Akkar.
