REPORT: Ain Saadeh residents protest against high voltage power lines

The residents of Ain Saadeh – al-Mansourieh staged a protest in the square of St. Therese Church in al-Mansourieh, against the installation of high voltage power lines above their houses. The protesters blocked Ain Saadeh – al-Mansourieh road leading to Beirut, threatening of escalation if their demands were not met.

Priest of the parish of St. Therese Father Dany Efrem revealed that a meeting was held between Bishop Boulos Matar with the energy minister, noting that the bishop asked the minister about the adopted criteria. The latter answered that they are adopting European criteria, and the bishop asked for an official document proving this claim, but they did not receive anything.
