The economic bodies are expected to present, at the beginning of next week, to President Michel Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, a document revealing the blatant contradiction between the state’s policy to support the industry and imposing fees on imported containers that contain raw materials for the industry.
The economic bodied also believe that “the greatest injustice is imposing taxes on interests with retroactive effect,” calling for amending such decision.
The bodies, while expressing keenness on the citizens’ interests without imposing further burdens on the citizens, also included in the document a proposal to replace the financial stamps with an increase to the Value Added Tax.
