The waste crisis looms in the horizon all over again as random landfills are spreading across the regions.
Taking the path of administrative decentralization, the Municipality of Bar Elias established a waste sorting and treatment plant over a space of 53 thousand square meters and with a cost of 4.4 million euros, funded by the European Union.
The plant has a capacity of treating 150 tons of garbage per day, serving three Bekaa towns that offered the land on which the plant has been built. The towns are al-Marj, Qab Elias and Bar Elias.
