Iran comments on Hariri’s resignation

Advisor to the Iranian Foreign Minister Sheikh Hussein al-Islam commented on Saturday on Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s resignation.

“I wish that Hariri had the wisdom of his father,” he said.

He also said that he wished Hariri “respected and preserved the dignity of the Lebanese people by submitting his resignation from Lebanon and not from another country.”

“Hariri’s resignation was arranged by [US President] Donald Trump and [Saudi Crown Prince] Mohammed bin Salman in order to destabilize Lebanon and the region,” he added.

Earlier, Prime Minister Saad Hariri submitted his resignation, saying in a televised broadcast he sensed a plot to assassinate him, criticizing Iran and Hezbollah.

He said a similar atmosphere existed in the country prevailed before the assassination of his father, late prime minister Rafic Hariri.
