Confusion arose in Lebanon between a meeting for Arab defense ministers in Saudi Arabia and a meeting for the defense ministers of Islamic Coalition to fight terrorism.
Defense Minister Yaacoub al-Sarraf was tasked at first to represent Lebanon, and then he was asked to cancel the participation.
Well-informed sources told LBCI that President Michel Aoun tasked al-Sarraf with attending after being told that the meeting is for Arab defense ministers.
But the Defense Ministry informed the Foreign Ministry of al-Sarraf’s intention to attend; the Foreign Ministry’s Secretariat General warned that the meeting is for the defense ministers of Islamic Coalition to fight terrorism, and that Lebanon has not joined said coalition and declared its disassociation.
Therefore, Minister al-Sarraf cancelled his participation.
