Beirut hosts Muslim-Christian Summit

The Muslim-Christian Summit was held on Monday at the hall of Mohammad al-Amine Mosque under the title “Christians and Muslims at the Service of Peace”.     

Religious figures from Lebanon and across the world have rallied together to share their experience in a bid to help with the peace-making process.     

In this context, Kataeb Party leader Amin Gemayel called for a Muslim-Christian coalition, urging the participants not to settle for dialogue.      

In turn, former Vatican’s foreign minister Cardinal Jean-Louis Toran confirmed that “Christians originate in this region of the world and they are, on their own land, cooperating with their partners for the sake of peace and communal development”.    

In turn, Secretary General of World Assembly for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thoughts Ayatollah Muhammad Ali Taskhiri said that “the enemies are seeking to sabotage the relationship between Muslim and Christians”.    

The conference recommendations will be made public on Wednesday from the Hall of St. George's Cathedral, downtown Beirut.
