The EU election observation mission (EU EOM) is conducting a comprehensive observation of the electoral process, including assessing the extent to which it complies with Lebanon’s international and regional commitments, and with national law. For Election Day the EU EOM will have around 100 observers on the ground.
24 long-term observers will be deployed across the Lebanese regions to observe the electoral process in their areas and report back to the team of 10 experts and specialists based in Beirut.
A further 36 short-term observers will be deployed at the beginning of May after having observed the vote of Lebanese diaspora living in Europe on 29 April.
They will be joined by an observation delegation of Members of the European Parliament, as well as representatives of EU embassies in Lebanon. They will observe voting, counting and the tallying and transmission of results.
