Geagea: Lebanon plunging into darkness while concerned officials are in Rio
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea criticized the fact that concerned Lebanese officials are busy traveling to Rio de Janeiro to participate in the World Summit on Sustainable Development. This as, Lebanon plunges into darkness due to the continuous power cuts across all regions, deteriorating economic, security and living conditions, he added.

In a meeting with a student delegation from different Arab countries, Geagea confirmed that the regime of Syrian president Bashar Assad stands isolated, adding that it will not last for long given that Americans and Russians are working hard to reach a “Yemeni solution”. According to Geagea, this solution stipulates the withdrawal of Assad from power, the return of the Syrian army to its barracks and the intervention of a joint Arab-International power to take over the country’s security.

“Only then, a transition period can start by electing a new People’s Council”, he said.

Geagea said that the Arab Spring is a historic process that might stumble at some point. “This is normal and it happens in all revolutions; in fact, revolution is a synonym for chaos, even if it is an organized chaos”, he concluded.
