Introduction to the evening news 24-06-2012
Egypt’s brotherhood – from the hands of its founder Hassan al-Banna to Mohammad Morsi, the President… The Muslim Brotherhood Movement was founded by Hassan al-Banna 48 years ago and has now moved to the hands of Morsi. However, no one ever imagined that the movement would ever inherit and witness both revolutions: the July 23 revolution which saw the presidency of Mohammad Najib, Gamal Abdul Nasser, Anwar Sadat and Hosni Mubarak to the revolution of 25th of January.

Morsi had defeated former general Ahmed Shafik with 51.7 percent of last weekend's run-off vote. Two of the five children of Morsi, a U.S.-educated engineer, have acquired the U.S. citizenship. Where is Egypt heading for under Morsi’s mandate?

Maybe it is too early to answer this question since all presidents that had ruled Egypt for 60 years have emerged from military ranks while Morsi is the first civilian to be elected president. In this context, the state-run TV reported that Field Marshal Tantawi congratulated Morsi on his win.
As for the Syrian events, the downing of the Turkish military jet is still spurring reactions as  Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with the leader of the main opposition party to discuss the  government's response to Syria. Meanwhile, the NATO is set to convene on Tuesday to discuss the jet issue.

On the Lebanese front, a second dialogue session will be held tomorrow during which another declaration is expected to be made.
