Plumbly: Ban’s report on Resolution 1701 to be submitted to Security Council next week

U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon Derek Plumbly said on Wednesday that he informed Prime Minister Najib Mikati that the upcoming report of U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki Moon on Resolution 1701 will be submitted to the U.N. Security Council next week.

Following his meeting with Mikati at the Grand Serail, Plumbly welcomed the results of the national dialogue that was held on Monday, adding that the commitment of the different political movement to pursue the dialogue is highly important. He added that the movements reiterated respect for their commitments embodied in the Baabda Declaration, including truce, supporting LAF and keeping Lebanon safe from regional conflicts, "a step that is similarly important", he said.

Plumbly condemned the violence that swept through Beirut at the beginning of this week, mainly the attack on Al Jadeed TV station. He pointed out that Mikati stressed the top priority attached by the government to maintaining Lebanon’s stability and security during this period.
