Sources revealed to LBCI that caretaker Information Minister Melhem Riachy discussed with President Michel Aoun the governmental gaps and the situation of the Christians in Lebanon, adding that he informed him that he agrees with the content of the tweet posted by caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil to respond to Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea.
In the tweet, Bassil said “this is the political suicide when a person harms himself, his brother and his community for the sake of political ministerial gains and a transient political moment.”
Riachy hoped that Bassil would commit to this content before anyone, “since this statement concerns him in particular.”
“Political suicide is when you leave your brother and Maarab agreement for a small gain,” Riachy added.
The tweet posted by Bassil stated:
“This is the personal and collective political suicide it is when a person harms himself, his brother and his community for the sake of political ministerial gains and a transient political moment leading him to waive authority, custom and "agreement", and call it supporting the era… but we will continue to support reconciliation and the era.” (Translated from Arabic)
GB — Gebran Bassil (@Gebran_Bassil) August 23, 2018
