Mona al-Mazbouh returns to Beirut

Lebanese national Mona al-Mazbouh who was jailed in Egypt over a Facebook video returned to Beirut on Friday after being released by the Egyptian authorities.

Upon her arrival, al-Mazbouh thanked Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Egyptian Minster of Interior and head of al-Qanater prison, saying that she was treated well.

Her family and her lawyer Hassan Bazzi received her at the airport.

“I did not mean to insult the Egyptian people,” she said.

For his part, Bazzi said that “what happened was basically the implementation of the law.”
