The number of ministerial portfolios in a Lebanese government is 24 and any additional number will go for state ministries.
In the current cabinet, there are 6 state ministers distributed as follows:
State Ministry for presidential affairs
State Ministry for parliament affairs
State Ministry for administrative development
State Ministry for women’s affairs
State Ministry for anti-corruption affairs
State Ministry for refugees’ affairs
Since 1943 and until today, Lebanon has witnessed the formation of 74 cabinets, 25 of which included state ministers.
A study conducted by regional research and consultancy firm Information International, the number of state ministers since the independence has reached 123 ministers.
A state minister receives allocations and compensations amounting to LBP 8.625 million per month.
123 state ministers over the years have cost the state treasury LBP 20 billion, an expense without any budget for the ministers to work with and without any productivity and revenues in return.
