A new environmental crime in Beirut: Old trees cut down

Workers at a construction site near Forum De Beirut cut down old trees in the light of day in a new environmental crime that calls for the prosecution of those behind it.

The trees were located in a public property and not inside the private property, in which the construction is ongoing.

Beirut Municipality said that it did not grant any authorization to cut said trees, adding that it was not aware of the events. The Mayor of Beirut Jamal Itani sent a patrol of the municipal police to suspend the works at the scene.
