Pope Benedict XVI appoints Archbishop Mattar as member of pontifical council
Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Lebanese and Nigerian clergymen to a Vatican department aimed at countering growing secularization.          

The Vatican said, in a statement, that the Maronite Archbishop of Beirut, Boulos Matar, and the Archbishop of Jos in central Nigeria, Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, will join the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization.         

Pope Benedict XVI established the Pontifical Council for new Evangelization in 2010.
